Four AI coaches. One method.

Choose who you talk to. Not which lesson to do.

Four AI coaches with genuinely different characters. Each one will talk with you about whatever you bring — and each hosts their own podcast, in the same voice you hear in the app.

  • Warm or direct
  • A calm start or precision
  • One learning plan

All four

Four characters. One method.

Underneath, it’s the same method. No red pen — just a correction that fits the moment: a better version, a nudge, or nothing for now. What changes is who says it, and how. Each of them hosts a podcast, so you can listen before you choose.

Malcolm

Warm and curious. He turns what you say into how you’d want to say it.

How Malcolm runs a conversation

  • He starts with your week: a conversation about your life, not a drill.
  • He weaves a better version into his reply; small things wait for the review.
  • Stuck, he hands you a phrase; on a roll, he makes it harder.

Best when…

  • You’re back from holiday full of stories and want to tell them in English.
  • You’ve got a meeting tomorrow where you need to say something awkward.

  2. Malcolm

Nice — so you’re responsible for marketing. What part do you own day to day?

Shared principles

What all four of them stick to.

Character changes the delivery. The teaching doesn’t: the principles are the same with Malcolm, Theo, Sophie and Emma.

  1. 1

    Conversation first.

Your AI coach reacts to what you say before how you say it. The topic and the sentence are yours — a correction never cuts you off.

  2. 2

    One thing at a time.

From each turn, it picks at most one thing to work on — the one that’ll help most. The rest can wait: a list of corrections kills a conversation.

  3. 3

A correction that fits the moment.

A better version, a nudge to find it yourself, or — for now — nothing. And you always know why.

  4. 4

    You say it again.

After a correction, you get the chance to say the sentence again yourself. A form you’ve said out loud is easier to reach for next time.

  5. 5

    Help when you’re stuck.

Ask for a phrase to get you going, a slower pace or a simpler question. When it’s going well, your AI coach raises the bar.

  6. 6

    No shaming. No points.

Your AI coach points out the form worth changing — it never judges you. And there are no points for pronunciation.

That’s the design. How well they stick to it in conversation, we keep checking and improving.

One method, four styles

Different company. Same method underneath.

Whoever you choose, you get the same conversation screen and the same principles. Your AI coach tells you straight that it’s AI. Only the temperature changes.

  • The topic sits at the top of the screen. You can change it mid-conversation.
  • Your AI coach speaks first. Transcript, hints and saved phrases are one tap away while you’re still talking. Or type instead of speaking.
  • A FizzUp podcast episode hosted by Emma: Disagreeing with Grace, from the Diplomatic English series
Emma’s podcast — the same voice you hear in the conversation.

Openly AI

They have character. They’re not people.

  1. Written characters

Malcolm, Theo, Sophie and Emma are AI systems, each with a written character, their own voice and their own way of running a conversation.

  2. They don’t pretend

We designed them that way: they never pretend to be human, and they’ll tell you so if you ask.

  3. They show what they know

On the “What I remember about you” screen you can see what they know about you — what you’re working on, which phrases are worth coming back to — and delete any item.

One learning plan. Whoever you talk to.

Your goals, saved phrases and next step add up to one plan — and it isn’t tied to the voice you hear. You start by choosing one of the four.
